Term 2 2018

Welcome back to school this term we will be learning about Matariki,plants and gardening.

Science the Living World

AIM


To be able to identify and describe the structure of different common 

flowering plants.


Success Criteria


  • I know the names of different flowers, wild and garden plants.
  • I can observe closely parts of plants and use the correct words when I talk about what I have found out.
  • I can complete diagrams showing parts of plants.
  • I can compare and contrast familiar plants and talk about what I have found out I use the right vocabulary.
  • I can record how plants change over time.


Term 3 Stem Challenges

Children were given an A3 sheet of paper they had to make the longest paper chain.

 Term 3

We have started doing stem challenges to help children to think and to talk to each other and share their ideas with each other.

Our first challenge was each group was give n an A3 sheet of paper and they had to make the longest paper chain.
We had three  groups that were  successful.
We talked about the groups that were successful why were they successful?  What did they do well?

The next challenge was to make a tower with the ingredients in their bag

Firewise

WALT be fire wise

Matua Roy and Matua Alby came to our school to teach us how to be fire wise.

If you find a lighter or matches these are adult  tools give them straight to an adult.

Swimming Carnival

We showed our families what we have been learning for swimming.

First post for 2018

Welcome to 2018 sorry about the late start we have been really busy in room 2.
Room 2 consists of 15 tino ataahua tamariki they are Year 2 and Year 3 tamariki.

On the 5th February we went to Waitangi as we were learning about the Treat of Waitangi.

We wanted to see where the treaty was signed.








First we got ready to go on  the bus.
We drove to Waitangi we had to get off the bus and line up so we could meet our guides.

Our guide was Whaea Roylena.

Showed us this picture of Ngatokimatawhaorua, we had a photo with it.
Can you see the man standing up at the back that is Whaea Shiralee's dad.

The Royal New Zealand Navy marched.


We liked watching the navy marched the were tall and straight like a statue.s

WALT make predictions

On Monday Whaea Rosina brought us some crystals we put them in water.
Then we made predictions on what it might, look like, what it might feel like


These were our predictions.
This is what they looked liked 
Then we thought what if we add more water what will happen to the crystals.

The beads grew bigger.
